SAGA Metals (TSX-V:SAGA) has returned a 470m downhole interval of oxide mineralisation from its maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) drilling program at the Radar Titanium-Vanadium-Iron Project in Labrador, Canada.
Drill hole R-0072 intersected 470m @ 36.72% iron oxide (Fe₂O₃), 5.40% titanium dioxide (TiO₂), and 0.245% vanadium pentoxide (V₂O₅) at the Trapper zone.
The result includes 69.2m @ 51.03% Fe₂O₃, 8.55% TiO₂, and 0.334% V₂O₅. The hole ended in mineralisation.
Two additional holes returned broad oxide intervals, with R-0073 intersecting 116.3m @ 36.73% Fe₂O₃, 5.74% TiO₂, and 0.225% V₂O₅, including 54.6m @ 44.4% Fe₂O₃, 6.95% TiO₂, and 0.303% V₂O₅.
Drill hole R-0074 returned 116.7m @ 42.21% Fe₂O₃, 6.53% TiO₂, and 0.281% V₂O₅.
The latest results extend an earlier eight-hole assay batch from Trapper, which included 23.3m @ 52.52% Fe₂O₃, 7.58% TiO₂, and 0.428% V₂O₅, as previously reported by Mining.com.au.
Chief Geological Officer and Director Michael Garagan says the R-0072 result adds substantial length to the mineralised system while supporting continuity between previously drilled sections.
“Drill hole R-0072 adds incredible length at 470m of continuous, correlated titanium, vanadium, and iron, including 69.2m @ 51.03% Fe₂O₃, 8.55% TiO₂, and 0.334% V₂O₅,” Garagan says.
“When an intercept of that length sits inside a cross section that already includes R-0008 through R-0011, you are no longer describing a target. You are describing a body with thickness, continuity, and grade that can be modelled.”
The Trapper zone forms part of a 29km² oxide-bearing lopolith, which also hosts the Falcon and Hawkeye zones.
Garagan says the mineralisation remains consistent along the margins of the broad intervals, with coherent higher-grade cores surrounded by oxide-bearing material.
“That is exactly the behaviour you want heading into a first resource: a thick, internally consistent oxide package that can be constrained in 3D rather than stitched together from isolated hits,” he says.
Building the maiden resource
SAGA has now received assay results from 67 holes, with 22,432m of drilling completed under the Trapper resource program.
Across the broader Trapper and Hawkeye exploration programs, SAGA has drilled 24,641m.
Core cutting, sampling, and shipping concluded on 31 August. IGS Laboratories is analysing the remaining 3,088 samples from holes R-0075 to R-0092, with SAGA expecting the results within two to three weeks.
A total of 13,789 samples have been collected from the Trapper zone. SAGA notes it has engaged GeoGlobal to prepare an independent National Instrument 43-101 MRE and accompanying technical report.
The wholly owned Radar property comprises 690 mineral claims across nine licences covering about 24,175 hectares. The property lies 10km south of Cartwright and surrounds the Dykes River Intrusive Complex.
The property is accessible year-round via Route 510 and is near the deep-water port and airport at Cartwright, as well as regional hydroelectric infrastructure.
SAGA Metals is a Canadian critical minerals exploration company advancing projects in Labrador and Québec.
