Gold Fields holds guidance, comments on Northern Star

Gold Fields (NYSE:GFI) says it remains on track to reach the upper end of its full-year production guidance after producing 605,000 gold-equivalent ounces in the September 2026 quarter.

Production was 3% lower year-on-year but in line with the company’s plan. Gold Fields also reported no fatalities during the quarter.

In the same operational update, Gold Fields says it remains open to engagement with Northern Star Resources (ASX:NST), although there is no certainty that further discussions with the Australian gold producer’s board will occur. Northern Star’s board declined to engage further over Gold Fields’ conditional, non-binding takeover proposal in September.

Gold Fields CEO Mike Fraser recently played down the prospect of a higher offer for Northern Star, as previously reported by Mining.com.au.

Gold Fields is a South Africa-based gold producer with operations across Africa, Australia, and the Americas.
