Impact Minerals’ (ASX:IPT) board has proposed to rename the company Altrica Advanced Materials, subject to shareholder approval at its annual general meeting on 30 November.
The change follows a strategic review announced on 26 October, which established high-purity alumina (HPA) production at the Lake Hope High Purity Alumina Project in Western Australia as the company’s sole capital priority.
A June 2025 Prefeasibility Study on the Lake Hope Project in Western Australia indicated a net present value of $1.165 billion at a 10% discount rate and a post-tax internal rate of return of 47%, based on approximately 33 years of feedstock. Impact confirms the material assumptions underpinning the production target and forecast financial metrics continue to apply.
In light of this, the company will continue to manage and present its HPA business (Lake Hope and Alluminous) separately from its precious metals and base metals assets (Broken Hill and Commonwealth). This, Impact says, reflects its refreshed focus on developing HPA for use in semiconductors, LED lighting, batteries, synthetic sapphire, and technical ceramics.
If approved, the newly named Altrica will initially focus on early-stage critical minerals exploration, particularly manganese, tungsten, and bismuth. Over time, it plans to explore, develop, and process these critical minerals into advanced materials.
Executive Chair Jim McKerlie says the strategic review gave the company “one capital priority and two clearly separated businesses”.
“Altrica Advanced Materials is a name that reflects that strategy,” McKerlie says.
“Investors will see Altrica as an HPA critical mineral developer, and we will be measured against clear milestones, starting with construction and [the] commissioning [of] the Lake Hope pilot plant by 30 November 2026.”
Impact notes that the name change requires a special resolution. If approved, the company will confirm an effective date and any changes to its ASX code.
Impact Minerals is currently focused on discovering and developing strategic, battery, and precious metals projects across Australia.
