Gunnison Copper (TSX:GCU) has appointed Bjorn Meyer as Chief Operating Officer as it advances production at the Johnson Camp Mine and continues development of the Gunnison Copper Project.
Meyer will replace Robert Winton, who made significant contributions during his five years with the company.
Meyer brings more than 20 years of experience in Arizona’s mining industry, including developing and operating large-scale copper mines. His operational leadership spans mine development, engineering, project execution, and operational improvement.
Most recently, Meyer served as President of Cripple Creek & Victor Mining Company, an SSR Mining (TSX:SSRM) operation. In the role, he will be responsible for Gunnison’s operating activities at Johnson Camp and the Gunnison Copper Project.
President and CEO Craig Hallworth says the company is pleased to appoint Meyer.
“Bjorn is a highly respected mining executive with extensive operational experience in Arizona’s copper industry and a proven ability to lead large teams, drive operational excellence, and safely deliver results,” Hallworth says.
“His background in mine operations, engineering, project execution, and continuous improvement makes him an ideal addition to our leadership team as we continue to grow production at Johnson Camp and accelerate the Gunnison Copper Project.”
Gunnison has also announced Scott Harrell’s promotion to Vice President, People. Harrell will lead Gunnison’s human resources, supporting the company’s growth while advancing its commitment to safety, workforce development, leadership development, and its People First culture.
