Heritage Mining (CSE:HML) has reported a 9m intersection @ 15.57 grams per tonne gold (Au) from 43m at its Melba Gold Project in northeastern Ontario, Canada.
The result from hole ML3800-004 includes 4.8m @ 28.98g/t Au. This ‘higher-grade’ interval contains a 1m sample grading 122.87g/t Au.
Heritage estimates the broader mineralised zone has a true width of approximately 6m. The company says the apparent 9m width is exaggerated because the drill hole intersected several centimetre- to metre-scale quartz-rich shear zones at an oblique angle.
The shear zones locally display breccia textures and contain disseminated coarse gold grains measuring up to 2mm.
ML3800-004 and the preceding hole, ML3800-003, tested a zone interpreted during a structural review of the Melba vein system.
The earlier hole returned a narrow intersection of 0.6m @ 46.25g/t Au from 43.8m, although surrounding samples generally graded below 1g/t Au.
CEO Peter Schloo says the latest assays support the company’s revised structural interpretation for Melba.
“We look forward to expanding the Melba Project footprint through systematic exploration and communicating results to our stakeholders,” Schloo says.
Heritage is drilling hole ML3800-005 and plans to follow with phase two drilling along strike and down dip from the multi-shear breccia zone.
The company says it is also assessing recently acquired magnetic, electromagnetic, and light detection and ranging data to identify further targets across the property.
Melba lies along the Ross Fault, a splay from the Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone, approximately 22km northeast of Kirkland Lake and 90km southeast of Timmins.
Heritage notes it has not completed an economic study for Melba, and the project does not currently host a mineral resource estimate or mineral reserve.
Heritage is a Canadian explorer advancing multiple projects, including the Melba Property, Drayton-Black Lake Project, Contact Bay Project, and Scattergood Project all across Ontario.
