Deep Yellow (ASX: DYL) has reported ‘thick, high-grade’ uranium mineralisation following phase 2 drilling at the Barking Gecko North prospect within its Nova Joint Venture Project in Namibia.
Diamond hole TN270DDT, which was tasked with following-up previous results, reached a depth of 266m and returned cumulative intersections of 118m @ 352ppm eU3O8 from eight individual intersections between 75m and 265m.
Key hits include:
- 9m @ 954ppm eU3O8 from 88m
- 60m @ 304ppm eU3O8 from 150m
- 30m @ 382ppm eU3O8 from 235m
The company notes that these results, in conjunction with earlier Phase 1 data, have confirmed the prospectivity of this zone which current measures 700m by 200m.
Hole TN270DDT was tasked with acquiring critical core sample material for detailed geological and structural logging in order to learn more about the ‘strongly mineralised’ zone at Barking Gecko North.
Importantly, the mineralisation encountered was found to be very similar to the nearby Rossing and Husab uranium deposits, providing justification for the follow-up drill work.
Phase 1 drilling at the prospect had earlier returned ‘encouraging’ results, with 13 of 14 holes intersecting uranium mineralisation, including a standout results of 70m @ 503ppm eU3O8 within four intersections over an 83m thick zone from 178m.
Deep Yellow reports that it is planning further drilling to test continuation of the mineralisation to the north, south and at depth.
Drilling is scheduled to commence before the end of January, and will comprise 10 RC holes for approximately 2,500m, with results due in March.
