Southern Silver Exploration (TSX-V:SSV) reports ‘high-grade’ silver-lead-zinc intercepts from definition drilling at its Cerro Las Minitas Project in Durango, Mexico.
Hole 26CLM-225 returned 35m averaging 188 grams per tonne silver (Ag), 0.3% copper (Cu), 4.9% lead (Pb), and 4.6% zinc (Zn) for 399g/t silver equivalent (AgEq). This includes 9.4m averaging 344g/t Ag, 0.2% Cu, 9.1% Pb, and 6.7% Zn for 665g/t AgEq.
Hole 26CLM-226 returned 5.2m averaging 277g/t Ag, 0.1% Cu, 9.9% Pb, and 6.3% Zn for 598g/t AgEq, including 3.6m averaging 384g/t Ag, 0.1% Cu, 13.4% Pb, and 8.3% Zn for 812g/t AgEq.
In addition, Hole 26CLM-227 returned 5.3m averaging 493g/t Ag, 0.3% Cu, 10.2% Pb, and 7.2% Zn for 850g/t AgEq.
VP of Exploration Rob Macdonald says the program has confirmed previously reported thicknesses and grades.
“These initial step-out holes not only help confirm the previously reported thicknesses and grades of mineralisation in this target area, but provide better definition as to the projection of several of the mineralised zones,” Macdonald says.
The results come from the first five holes of a 14,000m core drilling program that began in June.
The program targets the Puro Corazon area, aiming to upgrade the mineral resource classification across a 200m strike length by 300m down-dip zone within the Puro Corazon claim. Holes were drilled as 40m step-outs from previously reported intercepts.
Both skarn and replacement styles of mineralisation are identified in the holes, with several intercepts outside the skarn zone correlating and with previous mineralisation in the El Sol structural zone and main skarn target.
The company has completed eight of the 30 planned holes, with one in progress and assays from three holes pending.
Cerro Las Minitas is a large-scale underground mining operation in south-east Durango, within Mexico’s Faja de Plata silver belt.
