Koba samples six Queensland tin-tungsten prospects

Koba Resources (ASX:KOB) has begun collecting up to 1,000 soil samples across six tin-tungsten prospects at its Mt Garnet and Stannary Hills Tin-Tungsten Projects in Queensland.

The program covers the Gows, Starlight, Uncle Bobs, Tungsten Knob, Maria, and Kitchener prospects and is designed to refine targets for future drilling.

It follows rock chip sampling that returned grades of up to 15.20% tungsten (W) at Starlight, 5.40% W at Gows, 1.20% W at Tungsten Knob, and 7.70% tin (Sn) at Maria.

CEO Ben Vallerine says the campaign will build on the earlier results and improve Koba’s understanding of the six prospects.

“The systematic soil sampling program that we have just commenced is an important step in advancing an additional six highly prospective tungsten and tin targets to drill readiness at our Mt Garnet and Stannary Hills Tin-Tungsten Projects in Queensland,” Vallerine says.

Gows comprises several small historical tungsten, tin, and bismuth mines, most of which operated before 1913.

Eight of the 18 rock chip samples recently collected at the prospect returned anomalous tungsten results, including grades of 5.40%, 2.80%, and 1.20% W.

Koba says it will sample a 7.3km² area to define the extent of the mineralised system and assess its broader polymetallic potential.

At Starlight, sampling will test two areas centred on historical tin and tungsten workings. These include an 800m tungsten trend around the former Toms Mine and a separate tin-in-soil anomaly about 300m to the southwest.

Historical sampling at Uncle Bobs also delineated a tungsten-in-soil anomaly extending for more than 1km, with values reaching 500 parts per million W. Koba will extend the coverage northwest and infill the existing anomaly.

The company will undertake the first soil programs at Tungsten Knob and Maria, covering a combined 2.8km² around historical shafts and trenches.

At Stannary Hills, sampling will cover 1.3km² north of the Kitchener Trend to test for extensions of historical tin mineralisation.

Seven mines within a 1.3km corridor along the trend produced about 120,000 tonnes of ore @ 2.30% Sn before 1930.

Koba’s geologists will also conduct mapping and rock chip sampling to refine the targets. The field program is expected to finish in September, with results due during October.

A maiden 3,000m drilling program at the Kitchener and Jiminy prospects is scheduled to begin shortly, subject to receipt of the final permit.

Koba completed its first drilling campaign at the Stannex and Gilmore prospects in late July, comprising 24 holes for 2,937m. Assays from all holes remain pending.
