Koba Resources (ASX:KOB) has returned 29m @ 1.2% tin (Sn) from 111m in maiden reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the historical Gilmore mine, part of its Mt Garnet Tin-Tungsten Project in North Queensland.
Hole MGRC011 also intersected 0.36% copper (Cu), 0.017% tungsten trioxide (WO3), and 22 grams per tonne silver (Ag). The interval includes 15m @ 2% Sn from 117m and 2m @ 6.3% Sn from 126m.
The Gilmore mine produced 26,169 tonnes @ 7.6% Sn between 1906 and 1922. Intermittent mining continued between 1958 and 1980 and reached a total depth of 193m.
The maiden program marked the first drilling at the mine in more than 45 years.
Drilling further intersected 5m @ 0.58% Sn from 9m, 230m east of MGRC011 in hole MGRC013, including 2m @ 1.2% Sn.
About 1km northeast of Gilmore at the Stannex prospect, 21 broadly spaced holes returned mineralisation over 2km of strike.
Drilling at Stannex returned 10m @ 0.25% Sn from 69m in MGRC021, including 1m @ 0.76% Sn from 69m and 1m @ 0.56% Sn from 78m.
Stannex also returned anomalous zinc, lead, silver, copper, and indium. This included 3m @ 3.4% zinc, 1.5% lead, 65g/t Ag, and 31g/t indium from 184m in MGRC024.
Managing Director and CEO Ben Vallerine says the results show ‘significant’ mineralisation remains unmined at Gilmore.
“Previous mining at Gilmore averaged 7.6% Sn, and our drilling has demonstrated that significant mineralisation remains unmined,” Vallerine states.
“A further intersection of 5m @ 0.58% Sn, approximately 230m east of our standout hole, further highlights the potential to extend mineralisation along strike, well beyond the area of historical mining.”
The overall program comprised 24 RC holes for 2,937m. Follow-up infill and extensional drilling is planned at Gilmore before year end.
Koba will also begin maiden drilling at the Kitchener and Jiminy prospects within the Stannary Hills Project, where earthworks have commenced.
Koba Resources is an Australian explorer with a diversified portfolio of critical minerals projects, including the Yarramba Uranium Project in South Australia’s Frome Embayment.
