Golden Globe Resources (ASX:GGR) has planned detailed mapping and systematic sampling to define the extent of copper-gold mineralisation at its Burns Spur prospect in Queensland.
Rock chip samples from the historic Burns Spur copper mine area have returned grades up to 4.22% copper (Cu) and 0.472g/t gold (Au). A review of historic drilling identified a broad 60m interval at 0.16% Cu from surface completed by Noranda in 1970.
The ‘highest-grade’ results from 15 rock chip samples include 4.22% Cu and 0.045g/t Au, 2.29% Cu and 0.472g/t Au, and 1.12% Cu and 0.104g/t Au.
Managing Director Colin McMillan says the results ‘highlight potential’ for a significant copper, gold, and molybdenum mineralised system within the Ridler Creek tenement area.
“The combination of high-grade copper rock chip results, mapped mineralisation and the presence of historic workings provide a strong basis for follow-up exploration,” McMillan adds.
Historic work by Noranda included six percussion holes totalling approximately 540m, with the best intercept recording 60m at 0.16% Cu from surface.
Stream sediment copper anomalism extends over approximately 1.2km by 1.5km, with results up to 1,720ppm Cu.
The Burns Spur area sits approximately 4km northeast of Dooloo Tops within an underexplored intrusive complex. Golden Globe will complete detailed geological mapping and systematic rock chip sampling to define the extent and geological controls of copper-gold mineralisation.
Burns Spur represents an additional area of interest for the Dooloo Creek Project alongside ongoing drilling at Northern Gold and Eastern Breccia prospects.
