Catalina delivers ‘high-grade’ tungsten at Santy

Catalina Resources (ASX:CTN) reports rock-chip sampling at the Santy prospect has returned up to 0.62% tungsten trioxide (WO3), supporting an emerging intrusion-related tungsten system.

The company collected 25 rock-chip samples across the broader Tallering Project in Western Australia. Results from Santy show strong tungsten-molybdenum-bismuth mineralisation coincident with a largely untested induced polarisation (IP) conductivity anomaly.

Sample SY07 returned 0.62% WO3, 22.6 parts per million (ppm) tin (Sn), 65ppm bismuth (Bi), 230ppm molybdenum (Mo), 0.21% copper (Cu), 5.73ppm silver (Ag), and 0.069g/t gold (Au) from quartz float with possible pegmatite.

Meanwhile, sample SY09 delivered 0.31% WO3, 39ppm Sn, 12,300ppm Bi, 1,480ppm Mo, 0.15% Cu, 9.01ppm Ag, and 0.826g/t Au from blue quartz vein and pegmatite-associated mineralisation.

Executive Director Ross Cotton says the recent work is “building a different geological picture to that targeted by previous explorers”.

“Our recent work at Santy, including rock-chip sampling and geological mapping, combined with historical drilling and geophysics, is significantly advancing our understanding of the prospect,” Cotton notes.

“The results […] further evidence for what we believe is an emerging tungsten-polymetallic system.”

Historical reverse circulation drilling at Santy returned up to 0.84% WO3, with significant intersections including 17m at 0.18% WO3 from 79m.

Strong tungsten-molybdenum-bismuth mineralisation coincides with the eastern IP conductivity anomaly, which remains largely untested as historical drilling predates the most recent geophysical survey.

The Santy prospect sits within the broader Tallering Project on the Tallering Greenstone Belt, located along strike from the historical A Zone and Mixy gold deposits.

Catalina Resources is a diversified mineral explorer with a portfolio spanning gold, copper, lithium, and base metals across Western Australia and Tasmania.
