Albion Resources (ASX:ALB) will commence its maiden drilling campaign at the Gidgee Gold Project after rock chip sampling returned 280.3 grams per tonne gold (Au) from the previously undrilled Phar Lap prospect.
The company collected 35 reconnaissance rock chip samples across multiple target areas, with six samples returning gold grades greater than 1g/t Au. The standout result came from sample GDLH32 at Phar Lap, where historical workings define a northwest-southeast trend that has never been drill tested.
Other results include 4.79g/t Au and 3.47g/t Au from German Well South, 4.44g/t Au from Wilson Splay North, and 1.58g/t Au from an area near a historical electromagnetic anomaly.
CEO Peter Goh says the ‘high-grade’ surface mineralisation strengthens the company’s geological understanding ahead of drilling.
“The high-grade rock chip result, together with the historical workings and associated gold-in-soil anomalies, and favourable structural setting provides a compelling target for drill testing,” Goh emphasises.
Drilling collected the Phar Lap result from strongly weathered, iron oxide-rich quartz vein material adjacent to historical workings.
A series of historical shafts and workings define an approximate northwest-southeast trend, with magnetic data indicating a similarly oriented structure parallel to the German Well Trend.
The company has received approvals for its maiden drilling campaign comprising approximately 6,000m of air core and 1,000m of reverse circulation drilling. The program will initially focus on German Well South.
Meanwhile, Albion’s field team is mobilising to site to complete drilling preparations.
The Gidgee Gold Project is located in Western Australia’s Murchison gold district between Wiluna, Sandstone, Meekatharra, and Mount Magnet.
Albion Resources is a Perth‑based junior explorer advancing a portfolio of gold and base metal projects across Western Australia, including the Yandal West, Lennard Shelf, Mongers Lake and Leinster projects.
