Danakali (NSX:DNK) is expanding exploration over multiple copper, nickel, platinum group metals (PGM), and gold targets at the Orson Project in Western Australia.
The exploration team is currently onsite at the Gascoyne-based project to complete follow-up geochemical work across 384km² of granted and application tenure.
The program comprises 330 ultrafine fraction soil samples, 55 stream samples, and geological mapping.
Multi-element targets emerged from recent detailed airborne magnetics and surface soil and stream sampling. Coincident magnetic and surface geochemistry anomalies also confirmed the prospective nature of the tenure for intrusion-hosted copper-nickel-PGM mineralised systems.
Executive Chairman Seamus Cornelius says it is ‘highly encouraging’ to see the copper-nickel-PGM and gold potential of Orson continue to advance.
“The current program of soil and stream geochemistry is a significant expansion of previous work, and will help define the scale of mineralisation across this underexplored region within the Errabiddy Shear Zone and the Western Yilgarn [Copper-Nickel-PGM] Province,” Cornelius says.
A review of Danakali’s earlier soil sampling within tenement E52/4578 confirmed that defined copper-gold anomalies are also anomalous for magmatic copper-nickel-PGM pathfinder elements, including nickel, platinum, palladium, niobium, and cadmium.
Historical open-file stream sediment sampling undertaken by Krakatoa Resources (ASX:KTA) from 2021–2023 also outlined distinct copper-nickel-PGM anomalies across the area.
Danakali has pegged another anomaly under new tenement application E52/4651 in the southern portion of the project. The targets lie within the West Yilgarn Copper-Nickel-PGM Province, which also hosts Chalice Mining’s (ASX:CHN) Julimar discovery.
Danakali intends to use stream sampling to evaluate tenements E52/4597 and E52/4504 in this current campaign. These tenements have the greatest exposure to the northern extension of the Errabiddy shear zone.
The company is currently outlining parameters for an airborne electromagnetic survey, planned for early 2027, with geophysical consultants Newexco.
Assay results from the geochemistry program are also anticipated in early 2027.
Danakali is a mineral explorer and developer with a flagship potash project in Eritrea. The company has also expanded its exploration focus to include gold, copper, and base metals across WA, Eritrea, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
