Critical minerals explorer Augustus Minerals (ASX:AUG) has locked in the dates for an Aboriginal heritage survey across its 3,600km-square tenure in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia.
The $38.11 million market capitalisation company reports it will be conducting the heritage surveys in early August with 3 groups of traditional owners, including the Yinggarda, Baiyungu, and Thalanyji groups, which combined represent about 70% of its tenure.
Augustus’ tenements in the area are prospective for lithium, copper, and rare earth elements (REE).
This first survey will concentrate on ‘key’ copper prospects, including Crawford Bore, Nicks Bore, Copper Ridge, and Minnie Springs, along with the Mac’s Well REE prospect and the Birthday Well lithium prospect.
Commenting on the upcoming heritage survey, Augustus Minerals Managing Director Andrew Reid says: “This Aboriginal heritage survey is the last milestone required to be completed prior to drilling activities commencing.

The prospects to be surveyed are the main target areas generated across the tenement package and will be sufficient to complete drilling activities for the remainder of the 2023 drill season. We look forward to getting on the ground and start drilling in the coming weeks.”
On 17 July, Augustus reported it had received approval from the Western Australian Department of Mines, Industry Regulation, and Safety (DMIRS) for a Program of Work (PoW) to drill test Crawford Bore. The company said this reverse circulation (RC) drilling program is expected to begin during Q3 2023.
Augustus Minerals is a newly listed critical minerals explorer focused on its 3,600km-square of tenements in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia, which features ‘high-quality’ drill targets considered prospective for lithium, REEs, and copper.
On 25 May 2023, the company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) following a $10 million initial public offering (IPO).
