Augustus spots ‘wide’ gold zones at Music Well

Augustus Minerals (ASX:AUG) confirms ‘wide’ gold mineralisation at its Music Well Gold Project in Western Australia.

The assay results are based on single-metre samples from the company’s March reverse circulation drilling program, which covered Music Well and Clifton East.

Assays returned similar grades to the original 4-metre composite samples, with several intervals showing higher individual gold grades.

Hole MWRC0006 delivered a notable result, with 7.90 grams per tonne gold from 37m to 38m beneath the surface.

Other key intersections from the single-metre samples include 11m @ 2.41g/t gold from 32m; 11m @ 0.92g/t gold from 69m; and 34m @ 0.83g/t gold from 38m.

General Manager Exploration Andrew Ford says the detailed assays have more clearly defined the wide zones of mineralisation, displaying ‘higher-grade’ intervals within broader mineralised zones.

“This reflects fairly uniform, non-nuggety gold, that makes estimation of grade less of an issue going forward,” Ford says.

“The 7.90g/t single-metre assay from 37—38m in MWRC0006 also illustrates the potential of the prospect to host higher grade shoots.”

Augustus notes the similarity between the composite and individual fire assay samples indicates a uniform distribution of gold, which it considers “encouraging” for future grade estimation.

Assays from the new program have been submitted to the laboratory in Kalgoorlie, with results expected within five weeks.

In the meantime, the company intends to kick off a diamond drilling program in the coming weeks to determine the dip of mineralisation and provide structural information.

Augustus also plans soil sampling at other prospects, including Black Cat East and Teutonic East.

Augustus Minerals is a mineral explorer with two gold-focused projects in Western Australia and Papua New Guinea.
