Angkor Resources (TSX-V:ANK) is targeting contractor selection in early 2027 after submitting a tender for a proposed onshore oil and gas drilling program in Cambodia.
Wholly owned subsidiary EnerCam Resources lodged the 89-page document with Cambodia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy for review.
Once approved, the tender will be opened to companies seeking to drill the proposed wells at Block VIII. The process follows regulatory approval of the project’s environmental impact assessment in September.
The program comprises one well in each of the South Bokor, Central Bokor, North Bokor, and Kirirom sub-basins. A fifth well will be positioned using results from the first four.
Wells are planned to reach depths of up to 3,300m. Angkor says drilling in the Bokor sub-basins will test at least two potential pay zones, including fractured Permian carbonate rocks beneath the Indosinian 1 unconformity.
Each well will be configured for potential production and undergo a four-week flow test followed by a 12-week pressure build-up. The contractor will also manage rig mobilisation, logging, environmental compliance, and site restoration where required.
EnerCam President Mike Weeks says prior contractor assessments should support a timely selection process.
“We have already done our due diligence on the contractors, so once the ministry has reviewed the terms we can move quickly to selecting the company that will drill,” Weeks says.
EnerCam has met three potential contractors in China and hosted two at Block VIII. Equipment mobilisation is expected to take about three months after contractor selection.
Block VIII covers approximately 4,095km² under a 30-year production sharing contract. EnerCam has completed 350 line-km of two-dimensional seismic across the four sub-basins.
Angkor Resources is a Canadian resource company advancing Block VIII alongside the Andong Meas and Andong Bor copper–gold exploration licences in Cambodia.
