Scandium Canada (TSX-V:SCD) has appointed technology executive Noel Dubé to its board of directors and as a strategic advisor to its metal alloy subsidiary Scalium+.
The company says Dubé will provide technical and strategic support as it works to accelerate the commercialisation of its specialised Scalium® aluminium-scandium (Al-Sc) alloys and surface treatments.
Dubé, a long-standing Scandium Canada shareholder, holds a degree in engineering physics and has more than 20 years of experience in the technology sector, including executive, investment, and advisory roles.
Technology commercialisation experience
During his career, Dubé has been involved with Québec technology funds and has made numerous private investments in the sector. He has also served as a director, manager, and technical advisor to several technology companies.
From 2013 to 2019, Dubé served as President and CEO of Reflex Photonics, a developer and manufacturer of rugged, high-speed optical transceiver modules and embedded optics products.
He also co-founded R/D Tech, a research and development company that manufactured and marketed non-destructive testing equipment in more than 50 countries.
Between 1990 and 2005, Dubé held several executive and management positions at R/D Tech, during which the company grew its revenue from C$2 million ($2 million) to C$180 million, according to Scandium Canada.
“Noel’s appointment strengthens our board at an important stage in Scandium Canada’s evolution,” Scandium Canada Chairman Jeff Swinoga says.
“He has advised the company since 2024 and understands both our technology and our strategy, so he comes to the board with a deep understanding of the opportunity ahead.”
Scandium Canada President and CEO and Scalium+ President Simon Thibault says Dubé’s technology commercialisation experience will also support the development of Scalium®.
“Noel knows exactly what it takes to bring a technology from the laboratory to the market on an international scale,” Thibault says.
Scandium Canada is a critical minerals company developing North America’s only primary scandium source at its Crater Lake Project in Québec, Canada.
