North Stawell Minerals (ASX:NSM) is currently looking to diversify its portfolio, Exploration Manager Scott Duncombe tells Mining.com.au at the Gold Coast Gold Conference.
“We’re open to other projects, we’ve got good experience within the team, whether it’s exploration or development,” Duncombe explains.
“We’re happy to look elsewhere and diversify with other companies.”
North Stawell is currently focused on drilling at the Caledonia and Darlington prospects within its namesake project in Victoria, targeting further shallow mineralisation after two diamond drilling campaigns last year, as reported by Mining.com.au.
This exploration campaign will cover 2,000m to 2,500m of aircore drilling to follow up on a ‘high-grade’ gold zone identified at the Darlington prospect in February and November 2025.
Running parallel to the historical mine trend and remaining open in all directions, the gold zone has returned intercepts including 2.3m @ 29.3 grams per tonne gold from 108.2m, including 0.8m @ 82g/t gold from 108.2m, 0.5m @ 6.1g.t gold from 283.35m, and 0.3m @ 5.18g/t gold from 231m.
“We’ve started to drill the air core, which really tells us a lot about the shallow type of mineralisation where it does come to the surface,” Duncombe tells this news service.
“We know all these bodies through here are steeply dipping, so we are more than likely to hit a shallow component of it.
“By air core drilling, we can cover large areas really quickly and really cheaply, and then we can hone in on the more expensive diamond drilling.”
North Stawell is testing the strike component of mineralisation uncovered in last year’s diamond drilling campaigns, where the strike continues to the north and south.
The company intends to return drill results in April, which are expected to better define drill targets ahead of a diamond campaign aimed at defining the strike extent of mineralisation.
Victoria-based Australian Mineral & Waterwell Drilling (AMWD) is conducting the drilling campaign on behalf of North Stawell.
