Maverick Gold and Silver (CSE:MAV) has begun fieldwork at its Gator property in Nevada, US, as it prepares to drill two prospective gold-silver targets.
The latest work will focus on the GSX target, where the company has identified an extensive zone of geological alteration measuring approximately 1,200m by 700m within the outcropping Havallah Formation.
According to Maverick, silicified sedimentary rocks at GSX contain anomalous gold, mercury, and arsenic values that are interpreted as potential indicators of a precious metals-bearing hydrothermal system at depth.
The target is located in the southern portion of the Gator property, within Nevada’s Battle Mountain mining district.
Two targets identified for drilling
Another priority target is Gator South, located in the central portion of the property.
Maverick says the geological setting at Gator South is prospective for gold-silver mineralisation, with similarities to environments associated with historical mines in the region.
The company plans to test its geological, structural, and geochemical interpretations through an initial drilling program covering both GSX and Gator South.
The US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) recently acknowledged Maverick’s notice of intent for drilling, which covers the construction of access roads and eight drill pads across the two targets.
Drilling remains subject to the company posting the required reclamation bond and receiving confirmation from the BLM that it has been accepted.
The Gator property comprises 160 mining claims covering approximately 13.4km² of federally administered land in the Battle Mountain district.
Maverick Gold and Silver is an exploration-stage company advancing a portfolio of high-potential gold, silver, and copper properties.
