Kin Mining NL (ASX: KIN) announced that significant widths and grades were encountered in 400m line spaced aircore drilling at the East Lynne prospect within the Cardinia Gold Project (CGP) near Leonora in Western Australia.
The company reported that significant assays were received for a number of adjacent holes in initial broad-spaced air-core (AC) drilling at the East Lynne Prospect.
Highlights include 20m at 1.36g/t from 20m; 4m at 1.29g/t from 32m; 4m at 0.97g/t from 16m; 8m at 0.91g/t from 24m; and 4m at 1.72g/t from 12m.
The company noted that the results received to date account for ~30% of a major program of 15,000m of AC drilling at East Lynne.
The program was designed to provide an initial test of an extensive 6km long multi-element soil geochemical anomaly located 3km east of the Cardinia plant site in an area that contains several historical workings but which has had virtually no modern exploration.
The company said that the drilling has discovered shallow, ore grade mineralisation in new zones not previously drilled with attendant high-grade rock chips from goethite-rich, altered felsic volcanic rocks at surface.
KIN said that follow up AC drilling has commenced to in-fill and extend the zones at 200m line spacing.
Cardinia gold project
Cardinia gold project (CGP) represents the greater portion of the wider Leonora Gold Project located in the Mt Margaret Mineral Field in the centre of the Eastern Goldfields, Province of West Australia.
Cardinia is separated into the Bruno-Lewis system (which includes Kyte), and the Helens system (which includes Fiona and Rangoon). There is a total of 16 deposits within the CGP.
Significant prospects within CGP includes Bruno, Kyte, Lewis East, Lewis West, Cardinia Hill, Comedy King, Helens East, Helens South, Black Chief South, Snowden Well, Fiona, Rangoon, and Hobby.
Phase 3 exploration program at CGP
The company had commenced drilling at East Lynne in early July as part of the extensive and ongoing Phase 3 Exploration Program at CGP.
Soil geochemical anomaly targeted
The company said that broad-spaced AC drilling at East Lynne targeted an extensive, 6km long multi-element soil geochemical anomaly defined by auger sampling completed in the March 2020 Quarter. The soil geochemical target straddles several sets of historical workings that sit adjacent to a significant geological contact within the Minerie greenstone sequence.
KIN noted that limited historical RAB and RC drilling was undertaken around the old workings with some significant high-grade intersections by previous explorers. However, RAB drilling was generally shallow, drilled to a fixed depth across lines of limited extent and did not adequately test the extensive anomaly away from the historic workings.
KIN said that a substantial program of ~15,000m of broad-spaced drilling, designed to provide an initial assessment of East Lynne, has now been completed.
The initial program consisting of 14 lines. The company has now reported the results for the first four lines in the northern section of the target.
AC drilling at East Lynne
KIN reported that a total of 81 air-core (AC) drill-holes were completed at the northern section of the East Lynne program for a total of 4,579m with 24 holes intersecting anomalous mineralisation.
The company said that the drilling targeted the northern portion of an extensive multi-element soil geochemical anomaly defined by recent auger sampling. Kin Mining said that the drilling program consisted of lines of AC drilling at approximately 400m spacing along strike.
KIN reported that the drilling was completed to the base of oxidation and 4m composite sampling was completed for all drill holes with assaying for gold by 50g fire assay. Multi-element geochemistry assaying was also completed for each bottom-of-hole sample.
High-grade assays from East Lynne
KIN has now reported the results from the initial four lines of the East Lynne program.
Significant results include 20m at 1.36g/t from 20m (EL20AC041); 4m at 1.29g/t from 32m (EL20AC042); 4m at 0.97g/t from 16m (EL20AC078); 8m at 0.91g/t from 24m (EL20AC079); and 4m at 1.72g/t from 12m (EL20AC090).

Updates and next steps
Kin Mining announced that other elements of the Phase 3 Exploration Program at the CGP are continuing with a follow-up program of AC drilling in progress at East Lynne together with diamond drilling at Cardinia Hill. The company said that it is planning follow-up of the Line 3a intersections in-filling with AC to 200m line spacing.
KIN reported that it intends to continue exploration and drilling activities, with the aim to increase the project’s resources.

Kin Mining Managing Director Andrew Munckton said: “The East Lynne target is a significant structural and geochemical greenfields target within the CGP. There are several sets of workings along the target that have produced high-grade rock chips, significant alluvial gold won by prospectors and strong high grade drill results from holes drilled immediately under the old workings.
However, there has been limited and inadequate testing of the mineralised trends by previous explorers, and the target is ripe for a systematic, broad-spaced drill testing program to test the entire length and width of the anomaly and highlight new zones for immediate follow-up.
We started the program at the northern end of the target in July and have been working our way south, with the entire 15,000m program now complete. The results from the initial four lines of drilling are excellent, particularly considering the wide-spaced nature of the drilling. Significant new zones of mineralisation have been discovered in AC lines 3a, 3b and 4b in 4m composite sampling and mineralisation marked by historical workings has been extended.
These new zones are being immediately followed up with in-fill and extension AC drilling at 200m line spacing before potentially commencing RC drilling programs.
We also look forward to receiving the assay results from the remaining 10 lines of 400m spaced drilling in the central and southern sections of the East Lynne geochemical anomaly. If these are also successful then further in-fill AC and follow-up RC programs are likely to commence as a priority. Once the diamond rig has finished at Cardinia Hill, we also plan to drill two diamond holes at East Lynne to give us a clearer picture of the structural orientation and controls on the mineralisation.”
