Dubai Gold District in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) says it plans to open a walkway incorporating 24-carat gold before the end of 2026.
Commercial Senior Director Rashid Al Harmoudi announced the project during a jewellery event in Dubai, describing it as the world’s first and longest gold walkway.
The district has not disclosed the walkway’s dimensions, the quantity of gold involved, its construction method, or its cost. The first and longest claims have not been independently verified.
The proposal follows an earlier announcement by developer Ithra Dubai that a ‘Gold Street’ would form part of the district, which opened in January.
Dubai is one of the UAE’s seven emirates and a major regional centre for gold trading, refining, and jewellery retail.
Joyalukkas unveils record earrings
Separately, privately owned Joyalukkas Jewellery has unveiled a 16.514kg pair of earrings made from 22-carat gold at its Dubai showroom.
Named Mayura Sahasra, the earrings are based on the traditional South Asian bell-shaped jhumka design. They measure 1.215m long and 0.682m across.
Joyalukkas says 55 artisans spent a combined 5,840 hours producing the pair, which was unveiled publicly on 24 October.
Guinness World Records confirms the company achieved the record for the heaviest pair of gold earrings on 12 October. Joyalukkas says it also received a second title for the largest pair of earrings.
The earrings are not being offered for sale and will remain on display at the company’s Jewel of Joy showroom.
Dubai Gold District comprises more than 1,000 businesses spanning jewellery retail, bullion, wholesale trading, and related services.
