Trek Metals (ASX:TKM) has intersected multiple zones of mineralisation at the Kuro manganese discovery within its Christmas Creek Project in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
The company has intersected visual manganese in all of the 15 reverse circulation drill holes completed to date across 1,164m.
Intersections include 17m of visual semi-massive manganese from 9m downhole within a broader zone of 27m from 2m downhole; 9m of visual massive manganese from 24m downhole within a broader zone of 18m from 19m downhole; and 6m of visual massive manganese from surface within a broader zone of 25m from surface.
Trek Metals describes mineralisation to be consistent with the company’s interpretation of a hydrothermal ‘Woodie Woodie-style’ genesis. Woodie Woodie-style genesis commonly occurs in multiple discrete pods across an extensive area, Trek says.
The company has also identified new ‘high-priority’ drill targets from induced polarisation (IP) surveying, including two holes which intersected 17m and 9m zones of visual manganese mineralisation. Trek says these two holes were designed to target a chargeability high.
Additional drill pad earthworks were completed at the project over the past weekend. Earthworks were supervised by Traditional Owner monitors, allowing drill testing of additional chargeability anomalies.
CEO Derek Marshall says maiden drilling at Kuro is still in its early days and is the first program to target manganese in this project area.
“The observed visual manganese mineralisation and associated host-rocks are consistent with a hydrothermal ‘Woodie Woodie-style’ system and continue to represent the top priority drill target area for the company,” Marshall says.
“The induced polarisation survey, completed by Moombarriga Geoscience, has identified numerous high chargeability trends which remain untested, and we have just completed additional earthmoving to allow drill testing of these high-priority targets.
“Importantly, drilling is not only confirming the presence of manganese mineralisation in multiple holes, but the IP survey is providing an effective targeting tool that is helping us identify additional prospective zones.”
The company expects its first batch of laboratory assays to return in 4–6 weeks. Ongoing geophysics intends to help refine the company’s drill targeting and exploration model.
Trek Metals is an exploration company focused on unlocking value in underexplored regions.
