Sparc and Levidian link up for ecosparc expansion in Middle East

Sparc Technologies (ASX:SPN) has signed a non-exclusive memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UK-based graphene producer Levidian Nanosystems to develop, produce, and commercialise ecosparc-enhanced protective coatings in the GCC region.

Under the agreement, Sparc will formulate and test products incorporating Levidian graphene at its ISO-accredited laboratories, while Levidian will supply raw materials, technical support, and access to key regional end users.

The partnership targets a binding joint development or commercial supply agreement within 12 months, alongside evaluating local manufacturing in the UAE within 24 months.

Sparc Managing Director Nick O’Loughlin says the Middle East represents a significant market for protective coatings.

“Sparc is very pleased to be deepening our collaboration with Levidian to market and potentially produce ecosparc in the Middle East,” O’Loughlin says.

“Levidian is a clear leader in the production of high-quality graphene materials and has strong relationships in the GCC region.”

Levidian CEO Alex Holden says the Middle East is “an important market” for Levidian, with major infrastructure owners and industrial operators increasingly looking for materials that improve performance and extend asset life.

“This partnership is another important step in Levidian’s strategy to accelerate the commercial adoption of graphene-based advanced materials,” Holden says.

“By combining [Sparc’s] coatings expertise with our high-quality graphene, technical capabilities, and established relationships in the Middle East, we see a real opportunity to bring enhanced protective coatings into wider industrial use.”

The protective and marine coatings market in the Middle East is projected to exceed 200 million litres by 2030, surpassing North America.

Sparc Technologies is an Australian technology company focused on advanced materials and green energy solutions.
