Metal Hawk (ASX:MHK) has returned 9m @ 12.3 grams per tonne gold (Au) from 70m at the newly named Numbat lode, its ‘best to date’ result from drilling within its Leinster South Project in Western Australia.
The intersection in reverse circulation (RC) hole 26LSRC077 includes 5m @ 20.7g/t Au from 72m and represents a ‘strong’ result reported from the project to date.
Other results from Numbat include 8m @ 3.6g/t Au from 40m in hole 26LSRC075, including 4m @ 6.1g/t Au from 44m. These intervals are based on 4m composite samples.
Hole 26LSRC074 also returned 3m @ 4.2g/t Au from 5m, including 1m @ 10.8g/t Au from 7m.
Managing Director Will Belbin says the result from 26LSRC077 marks a step forward for exploration at the Thylacine prospect.
“The intersection of 9m @ 12.3g/t Au from 70m, including a high-grade core of 5m @ 20.7g/t Au at the Numbat lode, is by far the best result to date at Leinster South,” Belbin says.
“The recent program shows the stacked nature of mineralised quartz veins at Thylacine, with drilling demonstrating increasing grade and thickness.”
The company’s second drilling campaign of 2026 comprised 10 RC holes for 1,153m, with assays received for six holes.
Metal Hawk says the results demonstrate continuity of shallow, ‘high-grade’ gold mineralisation in fresh rock. The Numbat intersection remains open along strike and at depth, with drilling indicating the lode may thicken at depth.
The company’s preliminary structural interpretation suggests mineralisation at Thylacine has a steep northeast plunge. Numbat appears to trend north–south, oblique to the northwest-trending quartz veins mapped at surface, although further drilling is required to confirm the model.
Previous results from Numbat include 2.3m @ 15.3g/t Au from 28.1m in diamond hole LSD005 and 3m @ 9.8g/t Au from 32m in RC hole 26LSRC066.
Deep diamond hole LSD003 also intersected 1.7m @ 7.7g/t Au from 338.65m, including 1m @ 12.4g/t Au from 339m. Metal Hawk interprets the intersection as occurring within the same mineralised structure as Numbat, about 240m from the latest result.
Meanwhile, two holes drilled at the Thylacine main zone, about 200m northwest of Numbat, returned results including 4m @ 1g/t Au from 68m and 3m @ 3.4g/t Au from 66m. Results remain pending from another two holes, as well as two holes completed at the Tysons prospect.
Metal Hawk says it plans to begin its next RC campaign in late September, followed by diamond drilling targeting potential thickening of the Numbat lode at depth.
The wholly owned Leinster South Project covers more than 430km² within the Agnew-Lawlers region, between 10km and 40km south of Leinster.
