Metal Hawk (ASX:MHK) is conducting a high resolution unmanned aerial vehicle survey at the Leinster South Project in Western Australia, with the aim to undertake a maiden drilling program.
The survey will cover the majority of the western tenement (E36/1068), which encompasses the Siberian Tiger gold prospect, where rock chip sampling returned high-grade results up to 20.2 grams per tonne gold.
Metal Hawk, which has a market capitalisation of $9.46 million, says new detailed geophysical data will enhance the geological and structural understanding of Leinster South and will further assist the company with identifying drill targets.
Once the survey is completed, processing and interpretation of the data will begin immediately. This is expected to take three to four days.
Managing Director Will Belbin says Metal Hawk is collecting “important” geochemical, structural, and geophysical data to better understand the controls and potential characteristics of gold in the area.
“The drone magnetic survey will enable better interpretation of the subsurface geology and ultimately help us to determine the best possible target locations for the maiden drilling program at Siberian Tiger,” Belbin says.
“Whilst the historical geophysical dataset over the Leinster South tenure is poor, we expect that the new magnetic survey will show excellent detail and key structural features of the pronounced southeast trending greenstone belt.”
Further mapping and sampling is currently underway at the Siberian Tiger prospect, after receiving results from the initial reconnaissance program.
Metal Hawk says additional quartz vein samples from numerous locations along the southeast trending belt have been submitted to the laboratory in Kalgoorlie for gold and multi-element analysis. Results are expected within the next two to three weeks.
The first stage of a soil sampling program has also been completed at the prospect. Results from this program are expected shortly and will be used to plan a more extensive geochemical soil survey.
Metal Hawk is also negotiating a heritage agreement with the traditional owners, and is expediting all necessary approvals, so the company can kick off drilling as soon as possible.
At Siberian Tiger, the company recently applied for two new exploration licences to the east of the prospect. This has increased the Leinster South Project area to more than 430km2.
The Leinster South Project lies in Western Australia’s Goldfields region.
