Metal Hawk (ASX:MHK) will recommence reverse circulation drilling at its Leinster South Project in late June, following encouraging ‘high-grade’ gold results.
The company has received final assay results from its 18-hole, 2,734m reverse circulation (RC) drilling program completed in April 2026 at the Thylacine and Tysons prospects in Western Australia’s Agnew-Lawlers region.
Results have confirmed the Thylacine south zone as a high-priority target hosting significant thicknesses of shallow ‘high-grade’ gold mineralisation, including 2.30m @ 15.30 grams per tonne gold from 28.10m (hole LSD005) and 3m @ 9.80g/t gold from 32m (hole 26LSRC066).
The Thylacine East prospect also returned encouraging results, with hole 26LSRC068 intersecting 8m @ 3.20g/t gold from 26m and 8m @ 3.00g/t gold from 148m.
Managing Director Will Belbin says the company is continuing to increase its “geological understanding of the controls on gold mineralisation” through targeted drilling and geophysics.
“The Thylacine south zone is shaping up as a standout prospect with significant thicknesses of high-grade gold mineralisation…. We are looking forward to the next RC program to expand on these results,” Belbin says.
Expanding the target footprint
At Thylacine East, hole 26LSRC070 deviated significantly south of its planned target but still returned 4m @ 1.80g/t gold from 108m and 2m @ 3.60g/t gold from 182m.
The deviation means the shallow ‘high-grade’ gold zone identified in 26LSRC068 remains inadequately tested and open both at depth and to the south.
A new drill site will be established to the west to properly test this zone in the next RC program.
At Tysons, RC drilling returned 2m @ 1.50g/t gold from 69m (hole 26LSRC072) and 1m @ 1.10g/t gold from 79m (hole 26LSRC073).
The company has also completed a ground gravity survey over a 14km² area east of the Lawlers Anticline.
“The survey has confirmed structural targets in the untested granite east of Tysons. … Positioned on the same structural corridor as the Wonder gold deposits, this is a genuinely exciting new untested target area,” Belbin notes.
The filtered gravity data, integrated with aeromagnetics, supports interpretation of significant structural features within the cover-obscured granitic terrain east of Tysons.
Key east-west trending structures, including the interpreted westward extension of the Wonder Shear, are now well-defined.
Regional aeromagnetic interpretation indicates that the west-northwest-trending Wonder Shear extends from Northern Star Resources’ (ASX:NST) Wonder gold deposits through Metal Hawk’s tenure to Tysons prospect on the greenstone margin.
The Wonder deposits are granite-hosted ore bodies characterised by ‘high-grade’ gold associated with major shear structures.
