Jindalee Lithium battery McDermitt

Jindalee produces battery-grade lithium carbonate from McDermitt

Jindalee Lithium (ASX:JLL) has produced battery-grade lithium carbonate using ore from the McDermitt Lithium Project in Oregon, US

Testwork completed at Hazen Research returned assays of 99.8% lithium carbonate, with acceptable levels of deleterious elements in accordance with a typical third-party contract specification.

Jindalee Lithium, which has a market capitalisation of $16.33 million, says this achievement derisks the project by showing the effectiveness of all process steps of the flowsheet at bench scale.

Reaching this milestone provides confirmation of the flowsheet developed for the project.

CEO Ian Rodger says the results have bolstered the company’s expectations for the project.

“We have been greatly encouraged by the exceptional results we have achieved since commencing the Prefeasibility Study (PFS) metallurgical testwork program with Fluor and Hazen in mid-2023 and anticipate that these results will meaningful support the outcomes of the McDermitt Lithium Project PFS, which is now due for release in Q4 2024.”

The latest findings from the testwork, paired with other identified value optimisation opportunities, will be included in the PFS.

Jindalee Lithium’s share price had increased 13.46% to $0.295 as of 11.15am AEST today.

The McDermitt Project is uniquely placed to provide lithium chemicals to an American automotive industry which is transitioning to electric mobility technologies.

Jindalee Lithium is a pure-play US lithium company focused on developing its McDermitt Project, as well as exploring for lithium, gold, base metals, iron ore, and magnesite in Australia.

The company is exhibiting at the Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum is being held in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia from 5-7 August.

Mining.com.au will also be attending this year’s forum.
