IperionX to supply US Army with titanium

IperionX (ASX:IPX) has received a US$300,000 ($441,700) prototype purchase order from American Rheinmetall for the production of 700 lightweight titanium components to be used for US Army heavy ground combat systems.

The components are to be manufactured in the US using 100% recycled titanium feedstock, produced through IperionX’s patented Hydrogen Assisted Metallothermic Reduction (HAMR) and Hydrogen Sintering and Phase Transformation (HSPT) technologies.

IperionX states that these trademarked technologies enable domestic production of high-performance titanium components at a relatively lower cost than conventional methods.

IperionX is currently the only domestic producer in the US of commercial-scale primary titanium metal. Titanium has recently been designated as a critical metal by the US government, having historically relied on foreign-sourced titanium sponge and upstream processing.

This purchase supports the US government’s priorities in reshoring and securing critical minerals supply chains and has the potential to lead to a larger agreement upon the successful delivery of this initial phase of work.

CEO Taso Arima says that “this purchase order demonstrates the practical application of IperionX’s recycled titanium technologies on important US ground combat platforms”.

“As the only domestic producer of commercial primary titanium, IperionX is uniquely positioned to support domestic defense priorities with secure, low-carbon, and cost-competitive titanium products manufactured entirely in the United States.”

IperionX is an American titanium metal and critical minerals company, using patented technologies to produce titanium alloys at low energy, cost, and carbon emissions.
