International Graphite (ASX:IG6) is progressing its planned graphite processing hub in Italy, with its joint venture (JV) partner Alkeemia preparing for pilot plant commissioning by the end of 2026.
The partners are nearing incorporation of their JV company and preparing detailed permitting submissions for the Porto Marghera facility near Venice.
International Graphite has committed to 50% of the capacity of Alkeemia’s 200-tonne-per-year graphite purification pilot plant, where equipment installation is complete and final electrical works are nearing completion.
The allocation is expected to enable larger-scale product samples for European customer qualification and support potential future offtake agreements.
The companies are also continuing product test work with prospective European customers, while prioritising European equipment suppliers for the proposed commercial facility.
The update follows International Graphite’s agreement with Wogen Pacific on 15 October to secure graphite concentrate for its Collie Micronising Facility in Western Australia.
The binding three-year arrangement allows the company to source feedstock from established international producers while progressing its Springdale Graphite Project as a potential longer-term supply source.
CEO Andrew Worland recently told Proactive that the Wogen agreement would support commercial processing without requiring the immediate development of Springdale.
International Graphite is developing graphite processing operations in Australia and Europe, targeting industrial and energy storage markets. Its Collie facility is under construction, with production planned for the second quarter of 2027.
