Diamond drilling at Buxton Resources’ (ASX:BUX) Madman Copper-Gold Project in Western Australia is progressing, targeting an electromagnetic (EM) conductor modelled between 600–700m downhole.
The drilling of hole MD004DD has progressed to approximately 500m depth, with heavy rainfall limiting operations to day shifts.
Managing Director Marty Moloney says the proximity of the conductor to the interpreted hydrothermal system creates a ‘compelling’ target.
“The anticipation is building as we drill towards the targeted EM conductor,” Moloney says.
“The remaining assays from the maiden drill holes continue to reinforce the interpreted presence of a structurally controlled hydrothermal system that has elements consistent with Paterson Orogen-style gold-copper deposits such as Havieron, Winu, and Telfer.”
Buxton has also completed gold and multi-element assaying for diamond holes MD002DD and MD003DD, providing continuous coverage of 465.1m across the Skates Hills Formation conglomerate and basement sequence.
The strongest gold-copper result remains 0.37m @ 0.239 grams per tonne gold (Au), 1,630 parts per million (ppm) copper, 11.15ppm bismuth, and 300ppm arsenic from 542.72m in MD002DD. Gold results in MD003DD reportedly remain low, with the highest being 1m @ 0.027g/t Au from 645m.
Pathfinder variations between the two holes are interpreted to reflect the presence of a large hydrothermal system, with MD002DD intersecting the peripheral alteration envelope rather than the centre.
At current production rates, Buxton expects to complete the drilling of hole MD004DD by the middle of this month (October 2026).
Buxton Resources is focused on acquiring, exploring, and developing metalliferous ore deposits, including nickel, copper, gold, iron, and graphite, in Australia and the US.
