Avenira advancing Wonarah’s development strategy

Avenira (ASX:AEV) is advancing a phased development strategy for the Wonarah Phosphate Project in the Northern Territory.

The key phases include developing a 1.3 million tonne direct shipping ore operation which is currently underway, regulatory and technical studies, and Feasibility studies with the aim to unlock the economic potential of the company’s 550 million tonnes resources base.

The Feasibility studies aim to upgrade the resources base to commercial-grade products, which will enhance scalability and viability.

The Wonarah Phosphate Project remains central to Avenira’s strategy, driving near-term revenue and long-term scalability. The company says with disciplined execution, the phased approach aligns with evolving market opportunities.

As Avenira progresses towards operational readiness, the company is focusing on advancing these activities, while also laying down the groundwork for downstream production.

This news comes after SLR Consulting completed a comprehensive dry season ecology survey across key areas within Wonarah. These areas include the Arruwurra mining area, Main Zone deposit, and the planned northern borefield.

Avenira says the survey fulfills regulatory requirements under a mining authorisation and supports streamlined planning for larger-scale developments, including the proposed beneficiation project and future yellow phosphorus, thermal phosphoric acid projects.

Concurrently, the company submitted an updated mining management plan for Wonarah to the Department of Lands, Planning and Environment. Avenira notes this submission marks an important step in securing mining authorisation for larger-scale projects and unlocking the potential of its phosphate deposits.

Meanwhile, at Jundee South, Avenira has begun an aeromagnetic survey to gather data across the exploration area. The results from the survey, including geophysical interpretation, are expected towards the end of Q1 2025.

The results will contribute to refined geological interpretations and identifying new exploration targets.

Avenira is a battery cathode and fertiliser-focused project developer which aims to establish a local, integrated supply chain delivering products into the EV, agriculture, and industrial chemical markets.
