ABx Group rare earths exploration in Tasmania

ABx receives $600,000 in R&D tax rebates

ABx Group (ASX:ABX) and subsidiary ALCORE have received a total of about $600,000 in Research and Development tax offsets from the Australian Taxation Office for FY25.

ABx received $386,471, primarily for activities at its wholly owned rare earths project in northern Tasmania. Meanwhile, ALCORE received $209,971 for developing its proprietary process to produce hydrogen fluoride and fluorine chemicals from aluminium smelter by-products, supported by an AusIndustry Overseas R&D Finding approval in 2025.

The combined offsets strengthen group finances and support continued investment in ABx’s rare earths activities and ALCORE’s clean fluorine chemical technology.

ALCORE has also fully repaid $2.61 million of unused grant funds from the Federal Government’s Modern Manufacturing Initiative (MMI) program, which concluded in March 2025.

CEO Mark Cooksey says the rebates strengthen ABx’s financial position as it continues to advance its projects.

“We continue to appreciate the significant support the federal government has provided to the development of the ALCORE technology. We look forward to the outcome of ALCORE’s Industry Growth Program application as we continue advancing the commercialisation of this important Australian technology,” Cooksey says.

ALCORE remains under assessment for a grant of up to $5 million via the federal government’s Industry Growth Program — Commercialisation and Growth, with decisions expected before the end of 2026.

ABx Group is developing heavy rare earths, hydrogen fluoride, and bauxite projects in Australia.
