Zeotech reinforces market confidence via review

Zeotech (ASX:ZEO) reveals that AusPozz™ has been confirmed as a ‘high-performance’ supplementary cementitious material, following its independent peer review conducted by engineering consultancy firm BG&E.

The 12-month review confirms “consistently superior” strength performance across all mix designs, demonstrating the benefits of AusPozz™, which is a high-performance metakaolin for use in low-carbon concrete and as a manufactured pozzolan it is approved for use in Australian concrete standards as a Supplementary Cementitious Material (SCM).

In some trials, concrete mixes incorporating AusPozz™ achieved strength increases of more than 130%, underscoring its capability to enhance structural properties.

Concrete drying shrinkage also reduced by an average of 30% after 56 days across the trial mixes, indicating enhanced dimensional stability and improved cracking resistance.

Zeotech, which has a market capitalisation of $170.6 million, will expand its testing program to include additional durability assessments and a broader range of concrete mix designs, including high-performance concrete to support widespread industry adoption of AusPozz™.

The company is also working with Queensland Transport and Main Roads with the aim of securing AusPozz™ inclusion on its approved products list.

CEO James Marsh says the demonstrated benefits in strength, shrinkage control, alkali-silica – also known as concrete cancer – reaction mitigation, and the potential for cost savings position AusPozz™ as a “compelling” solution for the built environment.

“This milestone reinforces Zeotech’s commitment to advancing innovative, low-carbon materials that support the transition to sustainable construction while delivering tangible economic and operational value for our partners,” Marsh says.

AusPozz™ is produced from Zeotech’s ‘high-purity’ Toondoon kaolin deposit in Queensland and designed to give excellent pozzolanic reactivity when used with Portland Cement and Geopolymers. It can reduce the carbon footprint of concrete and other cementitious products while providing a range of performance advantages.

Independent carbon footprint evaluation of AusPozz™ confirmed about 204kg per tonne, which is 79% less than Ordinary Portland Cement binder.

Metakaolin is a semi-calcined kaolin (produced typically at temperatures between 650°C and 750°C). Pozzolanic materials, like AusPozz, have been utilised in building and construction for their technical benefits for over 2,000 years.
