AusPozz concrete MoU with Sunstate Cement

Zeotech signs AusPozzTM MoU with Sunstate Cement

Zeotech (ASX:ZEO) has executed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Queensland-based cement manufacturer and supplier, Sunstate Cement, jointly owned by Adelaide Brighton Cement (Adbri) and Boral Cement (Boral).

The framework will allow Sunstate Cement and its shareholders to conduct concrete trials to demonstrate the potential applications of Zeotech’s AusPozz™ metakaolin.

Under the MoU, Zeotech will provide agreed quantities of its AusPozzTM product, along with technical support and guidance for concrete trials.

Under the MoU, parties will exchange technical information and test results to advance the use of high-reactivity metakaolin in low-carbon concrete products.

The 12-month MoU will support trials to further validate AusPozz™ as a high-performance supplementary cementitious material that can reduce concrete’s total binder content and embodied carbon.

This validation process will assess the product’s compatibility with modern concrete production systems and identify potential opportunities for future commercial engagement.

Sunstate Cement General Manager Peter Edwards says the company has a “long history of supplying cementitious products” to construction markets in Queensland and northern New South Wales.

“This collaboration provides an opportunity to evaluate AusPozz™ through concrete trials and better understand its performance and potential application as a supplementary cementitious material in lower-carbon concrete,” Edwards says.

Zeotech CEO James Marsh says the establishment of this MoU with Sunstate Cement “represents an important opportunity to progress the commercialisation of AusPozz™ with an established Queensland cement manufacturer and supplier”.

“Sunstate Cement’s existing cementitious product portfolio and technical capability provide a strong platform to evaluate AusPozz™ through practical concrete trials and demonstrations,” Marsh says.

“The collaboration is expected to generate further technical data and support the pathway toward broader market adoption of high-reactivity metakaolin as a lower-carbon supplementary cementitious material.”

This collaboration follows an August 2026 MoU with VINCI Construction, under which Zeotech will supply agreed quantities of its AusPozz™ high-reactivity metakaolin, along with technical support and guidance for the project team, as previously reported.

AusPozz™ is Zeotech’s high-reactivity metakaolin, produced from its ‘high-purity’ Toondoon Kaolin Project in Queensland.

Designed as a ‘high-performance’ supplementary cementitious material, AusPozz™ can partially replace Portland cement to reduce the embodied carbon of concrete while improving strength and durability.

Independent testing has demonstrated that AusPozz™ can replace up to 40% of cement in optimised concrete mixes, while improving compressive strength and durability, reducing shrinkage, and mitigating alkali-silica reaction.
