Transition Metals expands Gowganda Gold Project

Transition Metals (TSX-V:XTM) has expanded its Gowganda Gold Project in Ontario, Canada, through additional staking and property acquisitions, increasing its land position to approximately 125km².

Gowganda is a district-scale property within the Abitibi Greenstone Belt, situated within 100km of three producing gold mines and near several advanced-stage exploration projects in the Shining Tree camp.

Transition made its first gold discovery at Gowganda in 2010 and has since defined 20km of continuous strike along the Ridout-Tyrrell Deformation Zone (RTDZ), a major crustal structure that shares similarities with other gold-bearing structures in the Abitibi.

The latest expansion includes 18km² of newly staked claims along the RTDZ, extending Transition’s land position westward towards McFarlane Lake Mining’s (CSE:MLM) Juby Gold Project.

Transition has also acquired two properties covering approximately 5km² of the Miller Lake basin, an area considered prospective for ‘high-grade’ silvercobalt vein systems. The properties were previously held by Transition under option agreements.

“We continue to be highly encouraged by the scale of the gold system we are seeing in Gowganda and the increasing exploration momentum in the district,” Transition Metals CEO Scott McLean says.

“This expansion further strengthens our strategic land position within one of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt’s most promising emerging gold camps.”

Gowganda was previously explored by Battery Mineral Resources (TSX-V:BMR), which targeted both Archean-hosted gold and silver-cobalt mineralisation.

Before returning the project to Transition last year, Battery Mineral completed induced polarisation surveys, soil sampling, mapping, mechanical stripping, and channel sampling, as well as 65 shallow drill holes.

Transition Metals is a multi-commodity explorer leveraging partner funding to advance multiple projects across Canada.
