PC Gold beefs up board with ‘proven mine builders’

PC Gold (ASX:PC2) has appointed Richard Clark and Matthew Scully as non-executive directors to strengthen its development capability, as it advances the Spring Hill Gold Project in the Northern Territory towards production.

Clark, currently executive chairman of Mx2 Mining, previously led Red Back Mining through its US$7.1 billion ($9.89 billion) sale to Kinross Gold (NYSE:KGC) in 2010.

As former president and chief executive of Red Back, he developed the Chirano Gold Mine in Ghana and the Tasiast Gold Mine in Mauritania. Most recently, he served as CEO of TSX-listed Montage Gold (TSX:MAU), helping advance the multimillion-ounce Koné Gold Project in Côte d’Ivoire through feasibility into construction.

Meanwhile, Scully brings more than 20 years of experience in mine and processing plant construction across Australia and West Africa. Currently executive director and COO of Many Peaks Minerals (ASX:MPK), he also previously led construction of the Kiaka Gold Project in Burkina Faso for West African Resources (ASX:WAF).

He also worked at Perseus Mining (ASX:PRU), where he oversaw development and construction of the Sissingué and Yaouré gold projects in Côte d’Ivoire — delivering more than $500 million in investment ahead of schedule and under budget.

The board additions come as PC Gold progresses a Prefeasibility Study (PFS) for a 3-million-tonnes-per-annum carbon-in-leach processing plant, with open-pit and underground operations, at Spring Hill.

Executive Chairman Ashley Pattison says the appointments mark a ‘deliberate’ step in the company’s evolution from explorer to mine developer.

“As we advance the Prefeasibility Study for Spring Hill, we wanted directors who have actually financed, built, and commissioned mines and processing plants — and few people anywhere have done that as successfully as [Rick and Matt],” Pattison says.

“Their experience will be invaluable as we take Spring Hill towards a development decision.”

PC Gold also announces that non-executive directors John Menzies and John Lewis have stepped down from the board. Lewis will transition out of the company secretary role once a suitable replacement is appointed.

The board thanks Menzies and Lewis for their ‘significant’ contribution to the company.

“Both have played important roles in bringing the company to where it stands today,” Pattison says.

PC Gold’s Spring Hill holds a mineral resource estimate of 43.6 million tonnes @ 1.1 grams per tonne gold (Au) for 1.5 million ounces Au at a 0.5g/t cut-off grade. Located within granted mining leases, the project holds environmental approvals to begin open-pit mining and underground refurbishment.

The company is currently progressing infill and extensional drilling and underground refurbishment, as well as advancing modifying factors such as metallurgy, infrastructure, and permitting alongside the PFS.

PC Gold is a gold explorer and developer focused on its flagship Spring Hill Project.
