Evion Group (ASX:EVG) is in talks with large global electric vehicle producers and battery manufacturers, with the aim to enter into potential supply agreements for the Maniry Graphite Project in Madagascar.
The company says nothing has transpired to date and will update the market in due course.
Evion, which has a market capitalisation of $13.18 million, has also submitted its credentials to potentially supply graphite concentrate to a global government agency from 2027 for a six-year period.
A procurement package is currently being prepared for the company to consider and Evion is looking forward to considering the offer and the commercial terms.
Evion says the opportunity to supply this agency would complement its focus on developing Maniry to supply its graphite and expandable graphite to Europe.
In conjunction, Evion has engaged with a range of corporate advisory groups to develop and execute funding plans. The company has short listed its preferred advisors and expects to formally appoint several parties over the next few weeks.
During recent talks with the European Union (EU) Finance Advisory team, the company discussed a range of initiatives including the concept of its battery anode material Scoping Study completed in early 2023.
The study demonstrated that a potential battery anode material operation in Germany could be ‘highly commercially successful’.
Evion is now assessing plans to expand this study to a Feasibility Study which could consider whether the company would be able to produce battery anode material from graphite concentrate at Maniry. In the future, the material would be used as a source of alternative energy and EV power in Europe.
A review of the Scoping Study has begun, with engineering appointed.
Managing Director David Round says these opportunities can potentially underpin the funding and development of Maniry.
“We also continue to have positive feedback from the Maniry Community and the Madagascar Government, and we anticipate our various permit approvals to be fast-tracked in the short term,” Round says.
Round is scheduled to visit Madagascar, India, and Europe throughout September and October to advance discussions and planned commercial agreements. Round will also visit the US and other countries in October and November 2025.
The Maniry Project, located in southern Madagascar, seeks to connect a substantial graphite resource to expedite global markets serving the world’s electrification such as battery anode manufacturers.
