Evion Group (ASX:EVG) has been accepted into the US Defense Industrial Base Consortium (DIBC), providing a second Department of Defense (DoD) contracting channel for its Nevada fluorspar and Indian graphite operations.
The DIBC is an additional pathway to US defence procurement alongside Evion’s existing membership of the Government-managed Cornerstone Consortium. The two consortia operate under separate agreements.
Membership allows Evion to respond to defence solicitations, engage with defence agencies and prime contractors, and position its Carp and Panthera projects within US defence procurement frameworks.
Evion holds an option over the Carp Fluorspar Project in Nevada. Historically, the state is the fourth-largest fluorspar producer with recorded production of about 44,900 tonnes at 69% calcium fluoride.
The US has reported no significant fluorspar production since 1995 and remains 100% import reliant.
Evion operates expandable graphite production through its 50:50 joint venture Panthera Graphite Technologies near Pune, India, supplying US and European customers.
The material has defence applications, including intumescent fire protection for naval vessels and armoured vehicles, thermal-runaway barriers for military battery packs, and flexible graphite seals.
Managing Director David Round says the company’s positioning across both materials addresses critical US supply gaps.
“We hold membership of both US DoD consortium channels, an operating expandable graphite business shipping to American customers outside Chinese supply chains, and a Nevada fluorspar project in a country that imports every tonne it consumes,” Round adds.
“Carp and Panthera speak directly to two materials the United States has said it needs and does not control. Membership puts us in front of the agencies, prime contractors and end users being asked to fix that, and we intend to use it.”
Evion will register its capabilities across DIBC materials and critical minerals areas and monitor solicitations under both consortium agreements.
Evion Group continues advancing Carp and Panthera alongside progressing its Maniry Graphite Project in Madagascar toward financing and a final investment decision.
