Dark Star Minerals (CSE:BATT) has begun a phased exploration program aimed at advancing priority uranium targets at its Ghost Lake Project in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
The program, with a budget of approximately C$300,000 ($303,060), will focus primarily on two complementary target types identified through previous exploration and regional datasets.
The first comprises areas of elevated uranium responses identified through regional airborne radiometric surveys, which may indicate near-surface uranium enrichment and warrant further field investigation.
The second is a property-scale structural corridor supported by anomalous uranium concentrations in regional lake sediment samples associated with a northeast-trending fault that skirts the margins of several radiometric anomalies.
The program follows the completion of a sampling campaign at Ghost Lake last year, which Dark Star says returned results supporting the potential presence of a large uranium-bearing system.
“We are particularly encouraged by the combination of strong radiometric responses, anomalous lake sediment geochemistry, and the favourable structural setting identified across the property,” CEO Marc Branson says, referring to the sampling results.
Multiple targets identified
According to the company, Ghost Lake lies along structural trends associated with known uranium deposits and occurrences in the Central Mineral Belt region, providing additional regional geological context for exploration.
Despite limited historical exploration within the project area, analysis of regional airborne radiometric and magnetic surveys, along with lake sediment geochemical data, has led to the identification of a series of uranium targets across the property.
The current program is expected to include further compilation and interpretation of regional survey data and historical exploration information, followed by field verification and systematic follow-up of priority targets.
“Our planned 2026 exploration program is designed to systematically advance the highest-priority targets and move us closer to defining compelling drill targets,” Branson adds.
Three principal target areas will be explored for the phased exploration program.
The first is in the southwestern portion of the property, where elevated radiometric responses are associated with interpreted contacts and rhyolitic units.
A second target lies in the north-central area, centred on the contact between volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks, while the third is in the south-central area, where radiometric anomalies may represent extensions of prospective lithologies identified elsewhere on the property.
Results from the exploration work will be used to refine geological interpretations, prioritise targets, define potential drill targets, and guide subsequent exploration activities, Dark Star says.
