Corazon Mining (ASX:CZN) has begun its maiden diamond drilling campaign at the Two Pools Gold Project in Western Australia, with a drilling contractor now mobilised on site.
The company received the final heritage approvals required to begin drilling, which will comprise four holes across 1,000m to strengthen the company’s geological understanding of the project.
Drilling will test the northwest plunge extension of the system, while also defining geometry of multiple ‘high-grade’ lodes, exceeding the project’s previous drilling averaging to less than 75m deep.
This campaign will see one hole to a minimum depth of 400m, following up a previous intercept of 5m @ 3.6 grams per tonne gold from 236m by testing the down plunge extension of the system.
Other historical intercepts including 12m @ 8.9g/t gold and 8m @ 7.8g/t gold will be followed up in this program to validate the project’s discovery potential.
Results will be used to advise follow-up reverse circulation drilling at the project, targeting strike and plunge extensions to the main mineralised systems.
Managing Director Simon Coyle says the mobilisation of a drill rig following the heritage report is a “pivotal step” to begin maiden drilling at Two Pools.
“This program is strategically designed to resolve the structural complexities of the mineralised system, providing the technical foundation required for long-term exploration success,” Coyle says.
“Most importantly, we are testing the high-grade core and the significant down-plunge extensions of the system which remain open and largely untested.
“We believe this program offers substantial upside, with the potential to materially expand the known mineralised footprint and unlock the true scale of the Two Pools Project.”
Corazon Mining is a mineral explorer focused on unlocking Western Australia’s next major gold discovery.
