Anson Resources (ASX:ASN) has completed the non-thermal purification phase of downstream processing test work for its Green River Lithium Project in Utah, US.
Australian engineering company JordProxa conducted the work on lithium chloride eluate produced through direct lithium extraction (DLE). Anson says the results exceeded the original design expectations and support its proposed process flowsheet for producing battery-grade lithium carbonate.
The next phase comprises thermal evaporation, carbonation crystallisation, and refining. Anson says it expects JordProxa to complete this work during the third quarter of 2026, with the program currently running ahead of schedule.
Anson shipped 14,000 litres of lithium eluate to JordProxa in July 2025 for the downstream test work program.
The proposed processing circuit combines membrane separation and ion exchange with thermal concentration and conversion. Anson notes it also incorporates zero liquid discharge crystallisation for managing process water and waste streams.
The downstream circuit is designed to convert the lithium chloride eluate produced through DLE into battery-grade lithium carbonate. Results from the remaining test work will inform front-end engineering design and Anson’s Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS).
Executive Chairman Bruce Richardson says completing the non-thermal work and advancing engineering represent milestones for Green River.
“Our strategy has always been to combine industry-leading direct lithium extraction technology with proven downstream processing to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate in the US,” Richardson says.
JordProxa Managing Director Paul Browne says the laboratory program supports the proposed downstream flowsheet.
“The results will provide valuable engineering data for front-end engineering design,” Browne says.
Anson has worked with JordProxa since June 2025. The engineering company’s earlier work formed the basis of the downstream process included in Green River’s recently completed Scoping Study and will continue through the DFS.
