Australian mineral exploration company Zenith Minerals (ASX:ZNC) has begun a deep diamond drilling program at its wholly owned Red Mountain Gold Project in Central Queensland.
The company reports drilling started today (3 May 2023), with 4 holes planned over 2,300m to follow-up previous shallow ‘high-grade’ gold intersections at the project. Previously reported results include ZRMRC001 with 13m @ 8g/t Au from surface, including 6m @ 16.7g/t Au from surface.
Commenting on the drilling program, Zenith Minerals Executive Chair, David Ledger says: “We’re looking forward to this drilling program with immense interest. We’re planning to test the deeper portions of what we hope will be a classic vertically zoned, gold enriched, intrusion-related gold (IRG) system in Central Queensland, below our already spectacular shallow gold intersections.”

Zenith states that drilling is scheduled to continue throughout May and June 2023, with the first assay results anticipated from the program in July 2023.
The Red Mountain Project is located 160km southwest of Bundaberg and covers 48km-square, encompassing a single Exploration Permit for Minerals (EPM 26384).
The company is intending to complete deeper diamond core drilling into the untested IP anomaly to scope for a vertically zoned ‘higher grade’ IRG system at depth. Additionally, Zenith will also complete diamond drilling into the centre of the breccia system, where discrete magnetic high anomaly corresponds with surface outcrops and Zenith rock chips reporting up to 0.3% copper.
Zenith Minerals is a mining exploration company focused on the demand for metals critical to the global energy transition. The company is primarily focused on the discovery and exploration of lithium, gold, and base metals located in Western Australia and Queensland, Australia.
