Talisman Mining (ASX:TLM) has uncovered the second copper-gold zone via drilling conducted at the Durnings prospect, part of the Lachlan Project in central New South Wales.
A diamond drilling program was undertaken, with hole DRDD0023 intersecting 4m @ 12.6 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, 11.4g/t silver, 0.5% copper, 0.4% lead, and 0.6% zinc from 90m, including 1m @ 44.4g/t Au, 29g/t Ag, 1.1% Cu, 0.5% Pb, and 0.6% Zn.
Talisman, which has a market capitalisation of $53.67 million, says validating the second mineralised zone in the Northern Durnings area further reinforces a major greenfield base and precious metals discovery at the prospect.
Managing Director Andrew Munckton says the new copper-gold and base metal results in hole DRDD0023 lies 400m away from the original discovery hole DRRCD0006.
“This shows that we have several mineralised positions at Durnings with the potential for exceptional grades over a considerable area in multiple locations,” he says.
Meanwhile, follow-up drilling in the southern Durnings area intersected broad zones of low-grade mineralisation, with sporadic zones of “higher grade” mineralisation.
Talisman says analysis of the drill core indicates that the holes were drilled at a sub-optimal orientation to intersect previously reported zones.
Munckton says downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) surveys from this area have outlined several conductor plates of varying strength that are associated with known “high-grade” zones and gives the company confidence in the potential to extend this mineralisation with additional drilling.
“Collectively, these results give us strong momentum as we prepare for the next phase of exploration at Durnings. Drilling is scheduled to recommence in mid-June, subject to the receipt of approvals,” the MD says.
The company says stage three drilling will consist of step-out drilling and be guided by DHEM plates associated with base metals intersections.
Further drilling at Durnings North will aim to extend up-dip and along strike the recent intersections received in hole DRDD0023.
