Talent Tuesday: Leadership shifts from US policy to ASX juniors

This week’s Talent Tuesday kicks off with the appointment of Alexander B Gray to the strategic advisory board of Energy Transition Minerals (ASX:ETM), as the company moves to align with US critical mineral strategies.

Gray formerly served as US Deputy Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff of the White House National Security Council (NSC) and was responsible for the direction of the US National Security Advisor’s office, budget, personnel, and security functions for the NSC.

He also served as Special Assistant to the President for the Defense Industrial Base at the National Economic Council (NEC) in the White House, with a focus on defence and manufacturing industrial base matters.

Gray is currently CEO of American Global Strategies, a global advisory that focuses on delivering high-level strategic advice based on the current geopolitical environment and devising strategies to navigate the US regulatory environment.

Gray’s appointment to ETM’s board follows the appointments in 2025 of former Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs Jeppe Kofod, former Permanent Secretary of State Friis Arne Petersen, and former Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop to the Advisory Board.

Managing Director Daniel Mamadou says Gray’s appointment will “provide invaluable perspective and strategic direction as ETM advances its international strategy”.

“As demand for critical minerals becomes increasingly linked to national security and industrial policy, Alex’s insights will be highly relevant to ETM’s long-term positioning, particularly in the context of our engagement with US markets and stakeholders.”

Energy Transition Minerals is an exploration and development company focused on developing and financing supply chains for critical minerals and decarbonisation metals.

Talisker Resources brings on gold executives amid company shifts

Talisker Resources (TSX:TSK) has made several appointments to its board of directors as the company transitions into a gold mining company and multi-asset producer.

Duncan Middlemiss is being brought forward as Chair of the board, while current Chair Morris Prychidny will continue as a director.

Middlemiss was President and CEO of Wesdome Gold Mines (TSX:WDO) from 2016 to 2023 and President and CEO of St Andrew Goldfields prior to its acquisition by Kirkland Lake Gold.

Danièle Spethmann has also joined as director of the board. Spethmann is an exploration geologist and mining executive with more than 30 years of experience in the industry.

She co-founded Warrior Gold, leading the company from private venture through to the public markets as it advanced its flagship property in Ontario’s Kirkland Lake Gold Camp, which is now part of Kirkland Lake Discoveries.

CEO Terry Harbort says these appointments come as Talisker looks to grow into a multi-asset producer.

“The decision to strengthen our board with these very experienced and knowledgeable candidates comes at a crucial time for Talisker as we embark on our growth path,” Harbort says.

Talisker Resources is a junior exploration and development company with gold projects in British Columbia, Canada.

Talisman Mining: New CEO to drive growth strategies across NSW

Within his new role as CEO, Ross will be working on strategies to unlock the company’s extensive New South Wales exploration portfolio, with a focus on business development and growth opportunities.

Chairman Kerry Harmanis says the team welcomes Ross as CEO.
