Talisman Mining delivers new ‘high-grade’ gold and base metal results from Durnings prospect, NSW

Talisman Mining (ASX:TLM) has encountered ‘high-grade’ gold alongside ‘significant’ base metals at the Durnings prospect within its Lachlan Copper-Gold Project in New South Wales.

The company says the results reinforce the polymetallic potential of the area and known mineralisation depth of the prospect, with drillholes displaying heavily disseminated and veined sulphides, as well as base and precious metal to end-of-hole.

Key results include hole DRRC0001 with 8m @ 6.3g/t Au, 0.77% copper (Cu), 0.27% lead (Pb), 0.36% zinc (Zn) and 6.3g/t silver (Ag) from 82m, including 2m @ 17.5g/t Au, 1.4% Cu, 0.32% Pb, 0.36% Zn and 12.8g/t Ag from 88m; and hole DRRC0004 with 8m @ 0.51g/t Au, 0.19% Pb, 0.5% Zn and 8.47g/t Ag from 196m downhole.

Talisman reports the encouraging base and precious metal mineralisation seen in extensional holes drilled as part of the program suggest the ‘high-grade’ intercept forms part of a much larger mineralising system. The company believes this system has the potential to be geologically related to the nearby Kaolin Shaft prospect.

The company notes results also confirm previously reported visual sulphides ‘strongly’ correlated to mineralised zones, with logged sulphide veins linked to gold and copper mineralisation.

With results from drilling now received, Talisman Mining announces it is continuing with plans to begin follow-up drilling at the prospect that will focus on extensions of the ‘high-grade’ copper-gold mineralisation intersected in DRRC0001.

Commenting on the results, Talisman Mining’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shaun Vokes says: “These initial results from Durnings are very encouraging, both in terms of the high-grade gold intersection returned and the pervasive combinations of base and precious metals returned in the step-out holes.

In combination with the results from the Kaolin Shaft drilling just to the northwest, these results highlight that this whole area is highly mineralised.

These initial results from Durnings are very encouraging, both in terms of the high-grade gold intersection returned and the pervasive combinations of base and precious metals returned in the step-out holes.”

We need to do more interpretative work to understand if there is a larger mineralising system at play here and what the key to unlocking it is to generate an exciting new discovery.

The team is already planning future work programs in this area as a priority while continuing to work flat-out on the current programs, testing multiple geophysics targets throughout our Central Lachlan Project.”

Talisman Mining is an ASX-listed mineral development and exploration company with a portfolio of tenements located in the Cobar/Mineral Hill region in central NSW. The company’s Lachlan Copper-Gold tenement is located in the Lachlan Fold Belt in New South Wales and has amassed a dominant position in what is a highly mineralised but underexplored mining district.
