Sunshine increases Liontown’s resources

Sunshine Metals (ASX:SHN) has increased resources at the Liontown prospect within the Ravenswood Consolidated Gold Project in North Queensland by 14% in contained ounces.

The area now hosts a resource of 790,000 tonnes @ 4.3 grams per tonne gold for 108,000 ounces, also marking a 3% increase in gold grade.

Sunshine is conducting the Liontown Gold Mining Study across three zones, due for completion in January 2026.

These areas include the Shallow Gold, Carrington Fresh, and Gold Panel prospects, hosting 76% of resources in the indicated category.

The upgrade at the Shallow Gold zone comprises a 22% increase in tonnes, 16% increase in grade, and 41% increase in contained gold ounces.

Managing Director Damien Keys says the resource upgrade follows on from infill drilling May 2025, which returned “shallow, thick high grade gold including 9m @ 6.31 grams per tonne gold from surface and 10m @ 31.91g/t gold from 42m”

“The drilling has also resulted in better definition of historic workings – showing that the gold miners between 1905-1911 left plenty behind,” Keys says.

Sunshine has begun an infill grade control drilling campaign at the Shallow Gold area today. The company will cover 3,333m across 84 holes, which is expected to be completed in December 2025.

“The drilling is expected to further improve resource confidence and bring the much of the Shallow Gold resource to measured status,” Keys adds.

“This improved confidence will serve our ongoing discussions with potential toll treatment partners.”

In parallel with the mining study, the company is currently progressing geotechnical studies to support preliminary pit and underground optimisation work at Liontown, as well as environmental permitting.

Previously speaking to Mining.com.au, Keys says Sunshine is shifting its exploration focus to Liontown after returning final drill results from the Sybil Project, also within Ravenswood Consolidated Project.

Final assays from recent drilling at Sybil returned 4.5m @ 17.23 grams per tonne gold from 82.5m; 1.5m @ 2.91g/t gold from 19m; and 2.4m @ 3.55g/t from 36.46m.

Sunshine Metals is a gold and copper-focused explorer with a portfolio of projects in Queensland.
