Stelar Metals (ASX:SLB) has reported rock chip results of up to 1.41% tungsten trioxide from maiden sampling at its Hill of Leaders Project in the Northern Territory.
The company collected 18 rock chip samples during June, with two returning grades above 1% tungsten trioxide (WO₃) and more than one-quarter assaying above 0.50% WO₃.
According to Stelar, two-thirds of the samples returned tungsten grades above 0.05% WO₃.
“These are exactly the kind of results we hoped to see from our first pass over Hill of Leaders. Widespread tungsten mineralisation and grades above 1% tungsten trioxide tell us we are dealing with a real tungsten system of significant scale,” Executive Chairman Stephen Biggins says.
The sampling program also returned molybdenum values averaging 0.026%, with a maximum of 0.058%.
Four samples assayed more than 0.50% copper (Cu), including one sample from the Old Ghan prospect returning 6.64% Cu and 0.16 grams per tonne gold (Au).
Stelar says the mineralisation occurs predominantly as wolframite and scheelite hosted within quartz veins and greisen associated with the Hill of Leaders Granite.
The company identified about 30 historical mine trenches across the Hill of Leaders Tungsten Field, most of which trend northwest-southeast.
Stelar is planning follow-up geological mapping, surface sampling, geophysical surveys, and a maiden reverse circulation drilling program. The company expects drilling to begin within weeks.
Results from a second field program are expected in the coming weeks.
