Soma Gold (TSX-V:SOMA) is planning to bring new resources into the 2026-27 mine plan for the Cordero Viejo Zone, located 250m south of the Cordero deposit within the Bagre Project in central Colombia.
The company intends to continue drilling from surface in 2026, with the aim of improving the confidence level of the resource. Phase two drilling will also test the down-dip extent of the south-southeast plunging ore shoot and explore for additional down-dip quartz veins to expand the resource.
This news comes after Soma Gold received drill results from the Cordero Viejo Zone, which extends the Cordero deposit with new veins – confirming the deposit remains open along strike and at depth.
Some of the latest results include 1.35m @ 9.4 grams per tonne gold, including 0.75m @ 16.5g/t gold; and 1.5m @ 7.7g/t gold, including 0.5m @ 23g/t gold.
Vice President of Exploration Chris Buchanan says the 2025 drill plan incorporated what the company had learned about vein geometry and orientation patterns in the Cordero deposit.
“We are excited to continue exploration on this vein system,” Buchanan says.

The 2025 drill program, comprising 19 diamond holes for 5,587m, was designed to infill historical drilling and determine the dip and strike extent of the Cordero Viejo vein system.
In conjunction with supporting mining operations at Cordero, Soma continues to evaluate numerous small-scale mines near the El Limon Mine and Machuca Project.
A phase one drilling program at the Colossa and Colossa 2 informal mines has been completed. A drill rig is currently being demobilised to the El Bagre Mill Complex for preventative maintenance.
Soma Gold is also awaiting the issuance of drill permits for the copper anomaly on the Machuca Project, alongside the recently acquired Escondida Mine. These targets are scheduled for drilling between late December 2025 and Q1 2026.
The Cordero Mine is part of the broader El Bagre Gold Mining Complex in Colombia. Development of the mine began in September 2020 and commercial production was achieved as of 1 January 2023.
Cordero supplies the mill feed for the El Bagre Mill and, as mine production warrants, the restart of the Limon Mill.
As previously reported, the El Limon Mill is expected to operate at full capacity by December 2025, achieving 200 tonnes of gold per day by Q1 2026.
Soma Gold is a growing Colombian gold producer which owns 43km2 of mineral concessions in Central Cordillera within the Bagre-Nechí gold mining district.
