Soma Gold commissions El Limon, appoints new VP

Soma Gold (TSX-V:SOMA) expects the El Limon Mill in Colombia, to be operating at full capacity by December 2025, with ball mill number one operational and the bull gear replacement for mill number 2 is underway.

The company expects to achieve full production of 200 tonnes per day by Q1 2026.

CEO Geoff Hampson says El Limon was placed on care and maintenance while the company developed sufficient ore sources to feed both mills.

“With the development of the Aurora Mine, the purchase of the Escondida Mine, and the formalisation of several small miners, we have now achieved that goal,” Hampson says.

“Production at Limon will contribute an estimated 500-1,000 ounces of gold per month. While throughput is limited during the ramp-up, we expect to reach nameplate capacity of 200 tonnes per day by year-end.

“Once the testing of the ore-sorting equipment is completed, management will consider an installation at El Limon, which would increase production to 400-425 tonnes per day, helping reduce Soma’s dependence on production from the El Bagre facility.”

Concurrently, the company has appointed Julian Storz as Vice President of Business Development.

Storz is a financial professional with over a decade of experience across corporate finance, banking, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets.

He will lead the company’s efforts to pursue accretive inorganic growth through mergers and acquisitions, as well as other initiatives to create diversity and develop new production in new regions.

This news comes amid negotiations to end the work stoppage by unionised employees at the El Bagre and Cordero Mine in Colombia continues, with the assistance of the Colombia Ministry of Labor.

Soma Gold says progress is being made on issues, but the union’s demand for co-administration rights remains a point of disagreement. The company is focused on reaching a fair agreement with its employees and is confident that a mutually beneficial resolution will be achieved.

Hampson says if the strike continues beyond 7 November 2025, the company will abide by the terms of the arbitration process.

Soma Gold is a gold-focused explorer and producer that owns more than 43km2 of mineral concessions in Colombia.
