Resolution unveils Spur South’s porphyry-skarn prospectivity

Resolution Minerals (ASX:RML) has revealed that the Spur South Gold-Copper Project in New South Wales, is prospective for porphyry-skarn mineralisation.

A discrete 3.25km-long magnetic anomaly coincides with a faulted margin of the Ordovician-aged Fairbridge Volcanics and Millambri Formation.

The company notes the magnetic anomaly cannot currently be explained by surface geology and based on the regional setting within a porphyry-skarn corridor.

As a result, Resolution considers the project prospective for porphyry-skarn mineralisation, of a nature similar to those in the immediate vicinity including Cadia-Ridgeway, Cargo, and Northparkes.

Further work is required to better define the magnetic target. Resolution says proposed exploration may include reprocessing and remodelling existing geophysical data, field reconnaissance mapping and sampling, and drone magnetic surveying.

The company may also conduct an induced polarisation survey and reconnaissance drilling program.

This news comes after a review of the exploration model for the Spur South Project area was conducted. The review included a regional and local perspective of the geology.

Resolution has commissioned an independent mineral exploration consultant to conduct the mineral systems review of the Spur South Project.

Executive Director Aharon Zaetz says identifying the target that possesses the local geology favourable for porphyry and skarn related gold and copper is positive.

“Notwithstanding the requirement to better define the 3.25km long target, the anomaly constitutes a high-priority drill target,” Zaetz says.

Resolution Minerals is a mineral explorer focused on acquiring, discovering, and developing precious and battery metals such as antimony, gold, copper and uranium.
